Walking down the street in Korea, you see a lot of food carts. There are tons of different street foods but this rice cake called Tteokboki would be one of the classic street foods. Likewise, there are many ways of cooking rice cake but today I will cook it with red pepper paste base that you easily see in the streets.

Ingredients : Rice cake(200g), Fish cake(50g), 2 Onions, Sugar(10T), Minced Garlic(1t). Red pepper paste(2T), Boiled Eggs. Little bit of green onion.
As you see above, when we buy the rice cake from supermarkets, it's usually attached so to make it fall apart, you need to put the rice cake in the water for a while(approx 10mins). When you put onion in the water for 10mins, it lessens the spice taste.
First, boil eggs. While you are cooking, in my opinion, cooking simultaneouly including washing dishes is important because you can reduce your precious time, right?👀
You need 500ml of water. After it's boiled, you put 2 spoons of pepper paste.
Then 1 tea spoon of minced garlic. I put this much because I usually put a lot of sugars! So if you don't want to put sugars as much as I do put less minced garlic.
Put 10T spoons after the minced garlic.😇
Before putting all the ingredients(Rice cake, Fish cake, Onions), taste soup whether to put more sugar or not.
It wasn't sweet enough for me so I put little bit of honey.
While cooking, you can tell whether this is ready or not by cutting rice cake. When it's chopped easily, it means it's ready. Green onion is for the decoration.
You can also have it with boiled egg. If you are the person who's not okay with the spicy food, this egg will lessen the spicy taste.
It's done! The one on the left is a pickled raddish. In Korea, when we eat these kind of street food, we eat it with raddish to refresh your taste.
